Lots of people start January with BIG GOALS

They are going to drop 3 dress sizes, do dry January, start going to the gym every day, give up sugar etc etc

They set off all guns blazing but now 3, nearly 4 weeks post Xmas....they start to flag a little and a sense of failure can creep in

Well, If you havent quite got there yet……..this email is to give you some reassurance, motivation and hope.

I find that lots of people place loads of pressure on themselves and I want to say that health and fitness should be a priority all year round....don't worry if January hasn't worked out..there are lots more months in the year to GET GOING!!!!

Be patient and please take your time.

Your HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH.

Give yourself plenty of time to readjust to
your new habits.

2017 is all about the small steps and looking at
your complete lifestyle,
not just reducing your food and exercising more.

Its sleep, stress reduction, lowering your cortisol,
optimising your hormones and mind set.

Your mind can play tricks on you with negative self chat.

Keep looking forward. Moving towards health.

I myself have had a very busy January......so I have made a big effort to start to do more relaxing things.....I have started going for a swim and a jacuzzi, taking part in a few of other peoples classes as I love that and it is my relaxation....

2017 is only just beginning there is still loads of time to make real positive changes to your health and fitness

Does that resonate with you???? I hope you are not being too hard on yourself...baby steps....

Is Obesity A Hormonal Problem?

1/17/2017

I attended a lecture on the weekend on fat loss and it was fascinating....

The theme of the talk was hormones....the information being around the fact that those who are struggling to lose weight have a hormonal imbalance...we know it is not simply a case of eating less and moving more

IT IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT....

Our hormones are telling us whether to burn fat or store fat....

Wow!!

All these years of being told

Eat low fat

Exercise for hours

Use smaller plates

Count your calories

When if your hormones are not in check.......it is going to be really hard for your body to burn fat...in fact there are many factors which will make your hormones tell your body to store FAT...

And to add to that, from the age of 31 our hormones start to decline......

So getting our hormones in balance is key to becoming a FAT BURNING machine!!!!

So how can we eat for health......how can we try to maximise the way our bodies burn fat?????

1. Cut out processed foods and refined sugars

2. Eat a diet rich in proteins and good fats....FAT IS NOT THE ENEMY

3. Cut down on alcohol and caffeine

4. Cut out stress from your life

Happy Heart Month

2/6/2015

So February is known for Valentine’s Day but it is also National Heart Month.

Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer causing around 82,000 deaths a year and around one in five men and one in eight women die from the disease.

So how can we combine the romance of valentines with improving the health of our heart this month?

Well one of the ways is to look at exercise and a healthy diet together.

When couples work out together they can achieve more, being a great support to each other along the way.

Quite often when you are trying to adapt a healthier lifestyle, perhaps exercising more or adopting a healthy eating plan, if your partner is doing it as well it becomes a lot easier.

You are there to support each other, and also to be accountable to each other, if you are both cutting out biscuits for example, then you will think twice before sitting down in front of each other with a pack of biscuits....am I right??

I have come up with my 5 Top Tips to improve the health of your heart.....

Eating a Mediterranean diet

“A 2013 study showed the Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of coronary heart disease by 30% and prevents weight gain which puts pressure on your heart, the diet also helps to prevent further worsening of existing heart disease and it’s NEVER too late to start eating healthily.”

Reduce salt

“Too much salt can cause high blood pressure, which increases the risk of developing coronary heart disease. Check the salt content of any pre-packaged food you buy.”

No processed foods

“There are lots of hidden saturated fats, sugars and salts in processed food, fast food, and ready meals.  I would strongly advise people to check the content of the ingredients of any food they buy and start cooking from scratch together.”

Quit smoking

“Smokers are twice as likely as non-smokers to have heart disease, with all the health issues it causes it is the most important thing you can do for your heart.”

Joining a Class Together

“The heart is the most important muscle and just a small amount of intense exercise will keep it functioning properly. Workouts as little as ten minutes a day can make a huge difference. Next week in the week leading up to Valentines I invite you to bring your partner along with you to a class forFREE.....let them come along and see what you do in class each week.
